Default My 1988 "Monster" 300zx turbo

My 1988 300zx turbo.

Motor
1999 pathfinder vg33 bored to a 3.5 liter
BRC forged pistons, total seal rings, scat forged rods
S2 jim wolf cams and valve springs
Custom intake plenum and log style exhaust manifold
T67 turbo, 1000cc injectors, tt fuel pump
Stock looking dynomax muffler with a vacuum actuated cutout
Crazy cage, tokico illumina suspension
Mueller twin disc clutch, haltech e6k standalone

I am just getting it ready to race this weekend. Built bottom end isnt back from the machine shop yet so i am going for the fastest stock block 1/4 mile time and hp while dialing the car in. Once the built block is in i will try to beat the 9.3 quarter mile record for the z31. The car looks stock other than the cage.

Here is a video of startup on saturday.

Pretty sleeper for sure. Some dark tint to hide the cage and you would surprise a lot of folks I'm sure.

That actually came with the car. The previous owner thought that he could weld. It actually doesnt leak and you cant really see it. You should of seen the cast iron intercooler piping welds that were thick as my thumb. This is a pic of the engine when i bought it.

better get some different tires or you aint gonna catch traction until 3rd gear lol. my friend had a 93 turbo zx that he ran on 25 lbs. of boost when he would go out racing. scariest damn thing i've ever rode in haha. but anyway, nice car bud.

Should be a good day tommorow. Both the z and the new dyno are ready to roll. Running a stock bottom end cause my machine shop is crazy busy but it should make some good power.*

Well, got a baseline run in today. It made 317/348 at 15 psi but my intake manifold broke and i let off at around 6k as it went pig rich. The divider in the manifold broke off inside and was rattling around. Other than taking a couple of minutes to figure out where the rattling was coming from everything is ok. Should have better numbers by next week. Not going to post the graph as it is rough at the end.

Here is a little video teaser. Not done tuning it yet but it is coming along nicely. Took it out tonight to get more gas and it felt good. Yes i am going to be getting a steering wheel soon in case you are wondering.*

made some more adjustments and did a couple of pulls with load. This is still at 15psi. Can't wait for a little race gas and 20 psi. Going to the track tomorrow to see what it will do.
