I believe it's closer to 6500, check your ECU maybe you have a D15B8 ECU (P05) running your engine.

It should be around 6500, as its powerband doesnt even peak until 5900.

are you throwing a cel with the p28? the ecu you need for a b7 is p06, youre redline on a p28 should be like 7500

its throwing the code for the vtec sensor and yes you could do a z6 head swap but its alot more than just slapping it on you would need to get a new timing belt and replace all gaskets you encounter pulling the old head off and you would also have to have your ecu chipped and tuned (something few people do on mini me builds) because the d15 pistons create higher compression than the z6... the easier route would be to just put a p06 ecu back in or get the p28 chipped to a p06

your probably hitting the cut becuase its a p28 and you dont have VTEC. I know some Virgin ECU's dont let you rev past the VTEC engagement point typically if VTEC doesnt engage. Because my friends CL had a issue with the solenoid and his would hit a "rev limiter" at about 5400 or so because of the VTEC.

Well there is really no reason for it to hit it there unless your tach is just off by alot. What does it read @ idle?

well then your tach isnt off, so it is for sure hitting the limiter at the wrong RPM. Especiallly if you put it on a P28 and it doesnt hit the non-vtec cut, it should go to 7200RPM because thats the redline on a Z6.

I have never heard of a stock rev limiter being 5600 maybe the car has an issue and the previous owner had a chip installed with that limiter set.
