Using Hatch to Transport a SWAP
So I found a good deal for a motor swap. I have been looking locally for a while now and it seems each good deal gets snatched up in a day or two. I found 3 I have been interested in this last month come and go. I found another today and I have money and ready to get it but the trouble is I dont have a TRUCK. And i'm going flying to cali tomorrow and will be there for a week. I dont want to pass up this deal and have it be gone when i get back. I can pick it up myself but what I need to know is:
Will a full D16z6 swap fit in the back of my 93 cx hatchback with seats folded down?

I use my hatch to haul motors whenever needed, I use a ratcheting tie down strap and I just secure the engine to the rear seat so it doesn't move.
detach the tranny (bout 20 nuts) so you can take it out of the car....
i used to haul b16's in my crx all the time...and at one point had 2 d16's in my hatch area with 2x4's between them so they wouldnt roll around, lol. That was when gas was 99 cents a gallon though, and I had them in there a good 3 weeks.
If it was now, I wouldve had them out 30 seconds after I got home.
Either way, detach the tranny or you'll have a hell of a time lifting it out yourself. Trannys are light - you can pull them no problem. The D16 though, you need to use both hands....lol.

I fit my b18 with seats up and rear strut bar still intalled in the back of my 93 hatch. you will have to remove the trans though but they will both fit in the hatch area without folding down the back seat.

Like everyone else said... it will fit.
I transported a full B18C-R swap with axles and all in my brother's hatch.
Pull the tranny and bring some wooden boards to protect the hatch from scratches etc...
Good luck,
-Walter
