Default Timing belt question...

Anyone know if a b18 timing belt and water pump will fit onto a b16?

Is the B16 a DOHC engine?

The timing belt will not work, the B16 has the shortest deck height out of all the B-series engines.

Not sure about the water pump.

Whatever you do, get the factory Honda belt. It was only about thirty bucks and then your good for another 90k.

Also, Honda water pumps. A little pricey, but these motors rev abnormally high compared to most everything else. Good piece-of-mind.

was that serious...

water pump should fit. timing belt should fit as well. the deck height is different on a B16 to a B18 but i'm sure it's not enough to make honda manufacture 2 different belts for basically the same motors. maybe the belt tensioner comes into play.

B16A2 T-belt: 14400-P2T-004

B18C1 T-belt: 14400-P72-014

The part numbers are different, but that doesn't always mean the parts are different. The reason I say it won't work is because I got a B16 belt for my friends GS-R. He took it to the dealer for installation, and they said it was too tight. Ended up ordering a C1 belt and had a day of down time.

I wouldn't try to use a B16 belt on a B18A/B because the deck is even taller.

IMO there is no sense in screwing around with this. Get the correct belt for the engine you've got OP.
