Anyone know anything about tein s tech lowering springs. please let me know what you think about them between quality and ride etc. thanks

 

There too soft. They lower the car a good amount, almost 2'', but have a very soft spring rate for the amount they drop.

With a proper shock they will ride great.

Due to the spring rates, they wouldn't be my first choice.

 

How about a little more information such as your setup and what the car is used for.

 

springs in general will be 'softer' then linear coilovers/sleeves

this will preserve smooth ride quality for the most part. Just make sure you have a good shortened stroke shock paired with it

 

I'd have to disagree. It's all about the spring rates.

 

Unless you get some real soft linear coils, in the 250lb range...


Most lowering springs start softer then that, and end stiffer then that. Thats why you can have a soft ride w/o bottoming out (because they stiffen up when the car rolls)

 

Here is an example of the spring rates for a Skunk2 lowering spring

’94-’01 Integra spring rates:
Front Spring Rate (Tender / Main): 173 lb-in / 520 lb-in
Rear Spring Rate (Tender / Main): 106 lb-in / 291 lb-in
Drop (Front / Rear): 2.0” / 1.8”
Note: 1 lb-in = 0.0179 kg/mm

’96-’00 Civic spring rates:
Front Spring Rate (Tender / Main): 173 lb-in / 520 lb-in
Rear Spring Rate (Tender / Main): 106 lb-in / 291 lb-in
Drop (Front / Rear): 2.2” / 2.0”
Note: 1 lb-in = 0.0179 kg/mm

so DD will feel smooth, but when you hit a hard bump or turn, the spring stiffens up and prevents bottoming out.

by comparison OEM springs for a 96-00 are some where in the 180/80lb range front and rear (as far as their stiffest point)

 

Speak to Skunk2 springs and not ALL springs when you say that most are softer. Most are not.

but those numbers only show the max rate of the springs, not the range.

when i say they are softer I am referring to ANY lowering springs vs a linear coil over spring in the 6,8,10k range.

simply because for the most part their initial load will be softer.



running say the front S2 spring which varies from 173-520lb/s... most of the time it'll feel like a 300 ish lb spring

Where as if your running a 8K or 10K linear spring it ALWAYS feels like 450-540lb's, thats much stiffer.

 

Well as it pertains to the OP questions NONE of our responses matter since the question was too open ended. We don't know how the car will be used or how low it will be dropped.

As a matter of fact it has no tech in it whatsoever.
