Default Double din in cupholder area

As the title really,
I have seen this done on some members rides on here but I think possibly only in Dc2 teg?

Anyone on here running this on civic? 96-01

I want to keep the original cassette player in the usual place just for show.

Any advice appreciated or links to build threads.

Many thanks

It would have to be custom. If there was even room to fit in that area.

There's not enough room.

You'd have to make a custom lower dash piece, and either way would look horrible.

Just stick with a single din.

pfffff to those who don't have imagination. o/p, you're going to have to make a custom lower piece, do it right and it'll look good. hell i've seen custom door panels with two speakers and they look good, anything can look good if done right.

Who said it couldn't be done right? I said it would have to be custom IF it would fit.

Start with the 99-00 cup holder. it has a big pocket. I think it would be very possible. you will just have to make a support bracket (easy too) although the DIN will have a stepper angling up but still doable.

Get the dimensions of the unit and mock up a box and use that to test fit and fabricate. But I'm suspecting you want someone to provide you with a link on how to do it. Otherwise you would have done it already.

Man, not hating, but from experience... I had a del sol with a double din mounted down low (custom work involved) and it was horrible. The viewing angle was off and it wasn't safe looking down that far to change the song, or the station. if you have a 99-00 civic, put the double din up top in the climate control area. It will look like this:

And if you have a 96-98 with a different climate control, and that's why you want to mount it down low, here's a link to help you out:

^

Thanks for the info,
With it being UK our centre console is obv different and I think it requires heater matrix changes too to make USDM fit.

Looks like its going to be quite costly too, Ill see what happens cost wise !!

The process should be fairly similar to the USDM climate control swap, only backwards. Lol. Use parts from a salvage yard and save some money. The stuff you need should be cheap (especially if you find it at a pick-n-pull. Good luck with the car man.
