Default Real LSD or did I get ripped?

Well I recently had a diff bearing go in my B16A transmission and the transmission had chronic axle seal leaks on the driver's side, a nasty 3rd gear grind and was starting to make some really nasty sounds so I located what I thought was a Limited Slip Differential transmission. I traveled 3 hours to get it. One thing that I did notice was that the transmission seemed to have been opened at some point in time because the two haves were sealed with an RTV or Gasket maker type sealant and not HondaBond like I would assume it would use. I did look through the axle hole and didn't see any bar so I gave the transmission a once over for cracks or stress marks in the case. All looked good so I gave the guy the money and carried the transmission out to my buddies SUV.

Today I tried cleaning the newly acquired "LSD" transmission up when I noticed something that I hadn't seen in pictures online before. There is a spacer with a hole in the middle inside the diff...It's like a thick washer and the diff doesn't appear to be straight through like all of the pictures I see...

I will let the pictures do the rest of the talking...

So can anybody shed some light?

The white sticker identifies it as an S80...it has the LSD and J4D ink stamps but it isn't wide open the way the LSD pics I have seen online are...and now I am a little suspicious seeing as the tranny seems to have been opened up at some point for whatever reason...

Please tell me I didn't just fork over the dough for a non-lsd setup!

It is an aftermarket helical LSD.

Thank you very much for your replies...I appreciate it. I just hope it isn't a cheap OBX, but with my luck, it probably is...

Ive been making 650-750 WHP on an OBX (H22)for over 3 years with the **** beaten out of it.

Upgraded the washers from the get go.. Havent had 1 hint of a problem... Some of the first were ****ed up, mine wasnt.

Still works PERFECTLY

Ive blown over 14 trannys up and never had an issue with the LSD. Ever.

Well...transmission shop just called me...Car shifts beautifully and drives great moving forward. The car will not turn at all without making horrendous grinding sounds! He said it is worse turning left than turning right but something is definitely not right. I got f*cked hard in the ***...no lube, no consent... The little ***** sold me a trashed diff setup. So I'm $600 deep for the tranny, $500 deep for the tranny shop ****ing with it...I'm going into damage control mode. Talking with the tranny shop, the guy said what he could do was potentially put my open diff into the LSD tranny, but what I need to know from you guys is this...will this work? Will the open diff go in problem free?

Sounds like a typical OBX LSD problem. Your options are to try to repair the LSD, install an open diff from a GSR, or replace the LSD with a better quality part. I have good used GSR diff's or new MFactory LSD's in stock.

Only a GSR open diff will work? The tranny that was in my car was an S80 but I have no clue if it was from a GSR.
I need to get this thing mobile ASAP. It's my daily and I have been down for 3 weeks. I am supposed to be going away May 20th. Let me know what prices I'm looking at for both the open GSR or the MFactory...

What about this? ---> http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Synch...Q5fAccessories

Only the GSR open diff will fit the ITR ring gear. Let's hope the person you bought this from didn't change the FD as well.

The open GSR diff will be stamped "P80" in the diff housing and the LS/B16 will be stamped "PS1". I will PM some prices to you.
