95 Civic and NEW starter wont spin.
95 Civic, 5sp. Clutch was going out so over the weekend i dropped the tranny and put a new clutch in it. No big deal. Finish it all up last night and went to start it and.... nothing. Only 2 wires going to the starter so i didnt screw those up.
Now, push in the clutch and nothing happens when you turn it to start except the cooling fan starts. Beat on it with a hammer... nothing. Try to jump start it with a screwdriver and nothing. I plug in the battary charger and run one side to the hot side (the nut under the little black boot) and the other to the small single wire term on the starter and you can hear the bendix pop out but it wont engage the motor. You hit it with power and it sounds like the bendix pops and hits the flywheel. Worked fine when i took it apart. ha ha.
Took starter to the local Auto Zone and sure enough, it was bad. They tested the new one and i watched the arm stick out and spin. Bring it home and put it back in the car and..... nothing. WTF is going on? Even if i bump it with a screwdriver... nothing. Try to compression start it... nothing. Everything else works.
