96 Civic EX - High Idle, loud engine, unidentified connector
So i just bought a 96 ex yesterday with 95xxx miles and im having some trouble with it.. First off when im driving and shift to neutral the rpms stay up around 2,000 until the car is completely stopped, what could be causing this?
Second, when the car is idling the intake sounds like its always "sucking"
And third the engine is sort of loud, what should be done to it tune up wise?
Any response will be appreciated thanks in advance
And one last thing is this connector that isnt connected supposed to be connected to anything?

TPS sensor might be worn out. Unplug it than see how your vehicle idles without it. Adjust the idle screw(turn counter clockwise) and close it a little, again this is with your tps sensor unplugged if it already does not idle fine without it.
Alright I'll try that unplugging thing and see..
There is no check engine light on and there's a cheap looking short ram intake
(I would like a stock oem airbox if anyone has one laying around)

seeing its obd2 and says vtec on the valve cover with obd2 injector plugs and that he said its a 96 EX yes its a y8. i can confirm that is the evap solenoid plug. it will run fine without it but will probably throw a CEL. as u say loud.. do u mean ticking sounds or exhaust or what? could probably use a valve lash adjustment if its a ticking noise.
Its not giving any CEL and can't find any anwhere to connect that plug.. And its not the exhaust or anything rattling its just loud in general

1) Your fast idle screw might need to be screwed in, your iacv may need cleaning, maybe vacuum leak.
2) Sounds like either your idle adjusting screw is unscrewed too far or your throttle hinge is not closing.
3) Prob. an exhaust leak, check for that. You can try a valve adjustment.

First check the throttle cable play. It should have about 1/2 inch of play. Second check your tps sensor. It should read .5 volts at fully closed throttle and something like 4.5-5.0 volts at wide open throttle. If it is out of this range, unscrew the 2 screws holding it to the throttle body and adjust it. If you cant get it within spec, replace it. Do you know how to check it?
I have a 97 civic ex that does the same thing everyone i talk to says "its a Honda thing" which frustrates the crap out of me but now it has went from just idling high to jerking while driving so i dont know what to do...
