Cold start idle on a 96 civic EX?
When the car sits for 6+ hours and I start it, it revs up to around 1500-1700 and sits there for a good minute (at least), then eventually starts to go down. Is this normal? It seems and sounds high to me, but I am new to owning a honda, so I could be way wrong.

yeah, but mine sometimes idles sometimes as low as 300ish rpm (after driving for a while and stopped at a light or something). Now is that normal? Sounds and feels perfectly fine though.

Fast Idle thermo Valve. Makes the idle high when the car is cold
As far as 300, thats pretty low, in reality it might be a little higher due to the fact that most factory tachs are a little off.

when I had bad plugs and drove hard in cold weather sometimes it would drop to 200-300rpm.. it was misfiring in cylinder 3 if it continues to do the extreamly low idle, check them plugs, it worked for me, BOSCHE plat 4s are what I use, its the best plug for running a normal temp motor.

Damn, I bet it screams when you start it up!!!, lol.
Can someone tell me when Vtec engages? 5400rpm? I only ask cause I can't feel like I have in some of my buddies cars.
