my idle has been unusually high, usually around 1100rpms for a while. sometimes it will drop down to 700, sometimes bounce around from 1100-1500 over and over, sometimes go up to as high as 1700rpm. It is NOT only high when the engine is cold.

I cleaned out the IACV?, which helped for a while, then the problem re occurred a few months later, i checked the opening and it was dirty again, I cleaned it again only to have the problem return a few months later again.

I unplugged the electrical connection to the IACV to check if the sensor was bad, it seemed okay.

any ideas on what could be the problem? thanks.

i took the iac valve off again today and it was clean, thinking I might have a vaccum leak somewhere on the intake, but don't know where.

well look for the vacuum leak then, check all of your hoses and connections and then let everyone know what you found. You said IACV with a question mark, so are you sure that is the part? What motor is this iacv in question being used on?
