Turbo blanket bad idea????
I've ran one before and had no problems, although the car wasn't turboed for long. The other day I was talking to Precision on the phone about their opinion on coating and who they suggested. I mentioned I wanted to keep the heat down in the engine bay as much as possible and I was told they do not like using turbo blankets because they trap so much heat in where the blades are.
Turbo blankets really raise the possibility of coking. They really take a toll on the shaft and bearing
on the exhaust side.
on the exhaust side.

I'm really questioning now if a blanket would be a good idea for a 100% DD.
Just thinking out loud here but I'd imagine exhaust housing size and amount of boost would play a factor too.

Ive been running the T1 blanket on my car with no problems... If you have a properly circulating oil feed and return to the turbo I dont see the problem...
I am also running a Precision 6265 so Precision doubting their own product (as the OP said) makes no sense. The blanket is directly covering the exhaust side of the turbo not the center where the oil is doing its thing. Who ever you spoke to on the phone was talking about the blades which are being directly covered but really... they are already seeing a lot of heat...

Yeah man I have had mine for a year and no problems what so ever. There was a significant difference in response before and after blanket. Just be sure to have a free flowing oil return and proper restrictor for the feed line and you should be fine. And make sure they are as close to vertical as possible. I had to put mine on an angle and the turbo has been blowing oil ever since.
