Default What size tires should I run?

So basically after 3 years of riding on cheap ebay coilovers and blown shocks, I've decided to put an oem suspension setup back on my Civic. I have 16'' Enkei CDR-9 rims with 205/40/16 tires. the only problem is that im not sure how my car will look with the low pros once it's back at stock height. any suggestions?

It will look pretty odd. What suggestions are you looking for? Even with the stock tire/wheel stock height looks stock. Might be waaaaay too high for you. A taller sidewall size would help but not much.

For a regular daily driver, i've always liked a quality set of lowering springs (they ride so much nicer than most coilovers) down about 1 1/2".

16's are fine, 15's are even better performance wise

here's my civic coupe at stock height with 16's

here is lowered

i was thinking maybe some 205/45's or 50's. plus if i put it back at stock height and dont like the result, i can always get some new springs lol. but for now im gonna do myself and my suspension a favor.

To me your car at stock height really didn't look bad. i might go with some 50's to reduce the gap between the tire and the fender. also, i read your thread on your civic a few weeks ago. that is a nice car my friend.

I think a set of some tokicos and some lowering springs would cost about the same as oem stuff. your talking about spending 400ish+ dollars to get bigger tires when you could put that towards your suspension instead.

Keep in mind taller sidewalls will throw off your speedo reading. 16" wheels call for a 205/40 or 195/45 to keep the speedo reading close.

205/45 or 205/50 on a 16" wheel is actually much closer to the OEM size.

JDM ITR's with the 16" wheels had 205/50 tires.

205/40 is the "sporty" tire that throws the speedo off.

205/45 is the closest you can get to the oem civic size wheel/tire diameter. It's still a few percentage points different.

lol at the damn monster truck tire. a 45 or 50 sounds good. im still pretty much set on going back to oem shocks. the roads where i live are horrible and last week i got my car aligned for about the 4th time in a year due to the **** coilovers it has. at least with the oem setup i wont have to deal with the hassle anymore. plus when its out of alignment it eats my tires.

i have 205/40/16 on my eg and i want to put 45's on because there too much room in between. I have 45's on another set of tires and if i went to 50's the tire will hit the fender if i turn the wheel.

205/45 is really the best compromise.

Regardless of the car being lowered or stock height, if the alignment is off it may wear tires. The usal killer of tires is toe. Manily toe out, but I suppose enough toe in could do it as well. Camber starts to become a issue after you pass the -4* area.

Any time you change the ride height the car needs to be aligned, period.

OP, if the roads are as bad as you say they are, this is deffinetly a worth while investment. Even more so if you plan to keep the car for awhile. It will normally pay for itself after 3-4 alignments.

You should get your car aligned at least 1 time a year. Also, every time you switch tire/wheels it should be done again.
