AEM at Honda Day
It was great to see two representatives from AEM at Honda Day yesterday. Devin from AEM stopped by my pit area to see how everything was going with my car. I told him I was having some issues getting the car to idle correctly with the 1600cc injectors and start when it was warm. We connected my laptop and Devin walked me through some things to look at and made suggestions on what I could change to help it idle and start better. I made his suggested changes and the car idled and started great. While we were looking through some of my settings in the AEM he also suggested other changes to make and took the time to answer all my questions and explain things in detail. I was also having issues getting my internal logging working and he helped me set up all the parameters and we tested it to make sure it would log before I went to do my pass. About 15 mins after I made my first pass and was back in the pits Devin stopped by to see how the pass went and if the car idled and started better.
I was very surprised to see AEM at Honda Day and also to have had the opportunity to not only talk with a representative from AEM but to have them actually take the time and spend it with me to help make my car run better and to teach me a few things about the software. It says a lot about a company when they take the time and spend the money to send representatives to the track to not only help support the racers that buy their product but also educate and receive feedback about their product.
It meant a lot to me because I don’t own a shop and really don’t have the knowledge or exposure when it comes to tuning. For someone to take the time out and help me get my car running better and explain things so I had a better understanding of how their product worked was a huge help. I really don’t know if this was a one off case that AEM sent a few people to the race but I would hope that this becomes a common practice at least at the bigger events. It was great knowing that if I had questions or problems I could actually speak to someone in person and not have to get my answers over the internet or phone. Nothing compares to face to face interaction.
I just want to thank Devin and AEM again for all the help and time he spent on Sunday with me.

Just to jump on the bandwagon here, Devin is actually here in Colorado helping us get our all motor car up and going on AEM. He spent 4 hours on the dyno today showing my guys the tuning side and helping them not just sitting behind the laptop and telling them what he is doing. My guys picked up the software right away (the version 2 software is awesome and way better than version 1) and they were able to get the car dialed in really quick. The car was running k-pro and it is amazing how much smoother the dyno graph is on the AEM compared to the k-pro. my guys also commented on how much better the car sounded on the AEM.
we are spending all day at the track tomorrow to do more testing and working on the more advanced features of the AEM. I can't wait to get our two outlaw cars up and running. I have to say thanks to Devin and Kirk from AEM for helping out with this project!

to Devin, he played a big part in helping me plan my build, and did some work for me back in the single cam days. He's wiser than I am that's for sure, he told me to keep the single and we'd unlock a ton more power for the following season. Should have listened!
i also had a talk with him on sunday and he was very easy to talk to. he gave me his card and told me to not be scared to email him at anytime. i was haveing an issue logging and he had a look and answered a couple of questions for me.
It is a 2.5L k-series in an EG. The car is running our 103mm 12.5:1 street stroker kit and a stock cylinder head. It made 5 more horsepower and torque was almost the same from k-pro to the AEM. We did test all day today and we went from a previous best of 12.3 on the K-Pro to 11.9 on the AEM at Bandimere (6000ft above sea level). The MPH picked up from 108 to 113 and it wasn't because of a tail wind. We really like how the AEM handles the rev limiter (a lot smaller window than k-pro) so the car was more consistent on the launch and was a tenth faster in the 60ft. From what all of us know, this was the first time that an all motor street car to run in the 11's at this altitude. We haven't been able to really dig into all the features because we are chasing a setup issue in the car but so far I am really happy with the AEM and with their amazing support!
Hands down to the best company, period!
Kirk, Ed, Henry, Travis & Devin have the BEST customer service EVER!
I'm glad they were able to help you & be part of the race.

I'm a newbie to this particular site. While browsing topics, I came across this one and was wondering if yall will direct me to where I can learn about AEM. Sounds like I need to know with all the positive talk in this thread, and I'm a sponge for learning more about what I can do with/for my car.
