Very similar to my current gsr build. Except I'm at 84mm with itb's and Pro 2 cams. Your power goal should be made with a good tune. Only thing I would change with your setup is the Blox intake mani for a Victor X. Than's just my .02.

you'll be lucky to break 210whp honestly.. its hard to get anymore out of a 1.8 that isn't stoutly built..with a serious set of cams and major headwork.

I've yet to see any.. i think the only big time 1.8 liter that comes to mind is marc187's who made like 215 on bloxC's..

i dont think you'll squeeze anymore outta it buddy.. but keep the faith...

Is anyone going to let him know that a stock port P72 won't flow enough to get to 240whp. Your head is going to need at least 270-285cfm to get anywhere near 240whp.
Or how about the Blox manifold that has the intake runners at the wrong angle for a P72 head. The plenum on that manifold is going to be way to small for your target WHP. You will need at least a Px or even better a Vx manifold.
Then again a very generous Dynopack might get you to 240whp.

If a stock ported pr3 head can get over 240hp I don't see how a gsr couldn't...Don't people actually get on evans-tuning and look at his dyno database? There is an 85mm stock stroke gsr on there making 242hp!!!! Granted it is on an 85mm bore so that helps out with the displacement.

If you look at similar setups to his on there. They are making roughly 200-215hp. If the stroke was increased with the LS crank and rods. I think he could at least see 230hp.

thanks for the input but if you had read what i stated my head is fully ported and polished and my whp goal is high but my tuner and i dint see me making anything under 220 i have the motor to do this the only thing thats would be a hold back is that its 81.5mm but displacement isnt everything a good tuner knows that.....and as for the intake its fully ported n polished also and the blox flows the same as a factory itr

I may have missed the pnp on you list my bad. But I stand behind the manifold point. You will come up short and need to go with at least the Px. It has been tested many times before and has even out done a ported ITR manifold.

240+hp on stock port pr3 head with a performance VALVE JOB, on a well built 2L motor, maybe. On a 1.8L....not likely.

85mm bore vs 81 is a big difference. I know first hand how tough it is to break the 200whp mark on a 1.8L and this build WILL come up short. There's not a tuner out there that can change facts....maybe a magician.

if you went with an ls crank and rod combo the extra 2mm stroke will help more than the 87mm gsr crank...

Sounds like a Good build. your 240 MIGHT not be met. But I wouldnt be suprised if you dont make atleast 200-215.

This is coming from someone that HAS done it. Not just someone that Reads about builds.

So its on you. Do the build right, Get a great tune for it. Let us know what you make.

With all the mods and machine work you listed, I have Faith in it.

I agree with you on the 85mm but my motor WILL NOT fall shot of 200whp i set my goal high like i stated before but there is no reason that it wont make 220+ with 81.5mm and my tuner is very good

When I said it would fall short, I wasn't talking 200whp, I was talking your goal of 240whp. I'm thinking you'll be lucky to hit 220whp with that build but regardless of what your dyno spits out as a number, I'm thinking your trap speeds will indicate a 215-220whp actual power output at best. I'm only saying that honestly. I'd love to be wrong about this and give you credit for a great build if you reach your goals.

Why not a 84mm build? id go with skunk2 or or the PX ported, PX has been tested to outperform them

Same vote here I would go 84mm. I have the same pistons as you except in 84mm. With your gsr head you would have somewhere around 13.4-13.7:1 compression without taking any material off the block or head. With your supporting mods with the ported head I think you would easily crack your power goal.
