All Motor LS Build Questions???
Whats up HT i'm in the process of building an all motor ls for dd purposes and i have a couple q's.. I'm lookin to make at least 170whp and I was wondering if crower 403 or 404 cams would be better. Im also wondering which cams will give the most useable power.
Also should i go with pr3 or p30 pistons to reach my goal? Also if my head isnt pnp'd would i still be able to make the power i'm trying to reach?
So far i have crower dual valve springs and titanium retainers, and arp rod bolts.

hes right to an extent. unless your building it because its what you like you would be better off with a gsr.
as for the build, to make 170whp either b16 pistons will work and its most likely going to take 404s unless the dyno reads liberally.
imo, don't shoot for a certain power goal. people get too caught up on numbers. you can make a motor with 150whp that will be 10x more fun to drive then a 170whp gsr. I have 403s and love them, the motor pulls at 3500 how most gsrs pull in vtec lol.

sell it and buy a b20.. then go vtec head...
Will make 170 pretty easily with that.
if you are stuck on the Non-Vtec route i'd go all B20.. its like having a big bore LS motor for a fraction of the price of sleeving,building, etc..

I'm lookin to build an ls cause its what I have available, I don't wanna buy another motor. And yeah I'm lookin for useable power not just a peak number. Thanks for the help though
you should really listen to the help. thats why you did ask your original questions right? Im all about building all motor ls's but these guys are right, unless your set on building one to be a little different there is no point. sell your motor and use the cash you were gonna use to build it to buy a gsr.
Yeah I appreciate the help and I wanna be different, sorry I didn't mention that. So when I pop the head and they see its just an ls they'll be like wtf no vtec?!
