The hotter the EGT does NOT mean its leaner< actually its fatter cause the probe in the pipe. Keep it under 1600-1700 and u be fine.

the pistons wont melt at 1200. i usually wind up at around 750c or around 1400c at the end of a dyno pull.

egt isnt necessarily the best for afr tuning, but it can definately let you know when you've had load on the engine too long and need to get out of the throttle. even well tuned cars can have excessive egt if you are in it too long.

as said, stay below 1600f and you are ok

lets say im going down the track and the aem sees it getting to hot. can the aem do something to cool it down without having to let off the trottle in the middle of a run?

if you had the EGT kit that i put together in my car, it has a programmable high warning output u could wire to do whatever you like.

Yes the aem ems can correct fuel parameters up to an extent based on what you program it to do if you have the egt's wired into the aem ems. It cant do individual cylinder adjustment though. At least not the series 1. Dont know about series 2. But you can program it to add a certain percentage of fuel dependant on egt temps.
