99 ej8 with b18c not pulling right
Hi I have a 1999 civic ex with a b18c swap it runs good but doesn't not pull right, what can be the problem? it has a p28 ecu b16..
heres some pics:

Start by chipping the ecu and getting an actual dyno tune.
Speedfactory is a great place.
And please be more specific, what do you mean by it doesn't pull right? Does Vtec engauge?
Cel's?

Vtec engages when the cars warmed up, the car just doesnt pull like my old b18c1 97 dc2 would. Im thinking about trading my p28 for the obd1 p72 ecu would that be better? im located in auburn wa, could I get a speed factory number to ask them on how much for dyno an ecu chip?? and for cel lights, it turns on when I go 80+ mph..

Yeah I think that's my issue cause my compression is good, good tranny, changed water pump, changed timing belt, all maintence always done.. I am running a stock p28 with a stock gsr manifold, but I'm getting p72 this Sunday so I will see..
Nope never pulled CEL lights to check, I'm trading my virgin p28 for a p72, an then have fluid motorsports chip it for $75, they said if I keep my p28, it would be better to get a skunk pro mani, but I'm in college an I'm doing engine work in the summer.. So you guys think a p72 would fix this issue?
You have a couple options for ECUs. You can get the P72, which you'll want to chip if you do any significant modifications.
You could keep the P28 and if you go turbo or high compression, a Skunk2 manifold will make a little more power.
Or you can keep the P28 and get Hondata S300 and it has the option of using different outputs (the wires normally used to actuate the EGR valve, control the AC, etc) to activate nitrous, VTEC, etc. You could use that to control the IABs.
Some ECUs, I think P75s and maybe others, you can ad the components to control the IABs on the board.
When you look at the price of Hondata S300, keep in mind it does realtime updates, drivability is usually better than with Chrome since Chrome is known to have some quirks that take a little more experience to overcome, it has onboard datalogging, boost control, temperature cuts both high and low. Otherwise, look at the Demon RTP. I believe it does about the same stuff as Hondata.
Also chipping can be done pretty cheap. I usually charge people about $25, less if they're friends.

OR, he could save a ton of money and just use chrome. It will be more than enough unless he's got a all out race car.
Speedfactory uses chrome, and James knows his ****. He is the ONLY person that I would trust to tune my car in WA.
Did you call SF? Kevin/James/Matt should easily be able to point you in the right direction.

Honestly I wouldn't even bother buying the P72. I don't know If you can chip the P72..
I would just call speed factory on monday, and ask how much for chip/tune, and do it asap.
2 step/Vtec can be done,I really don't see the point in touching the rev limter.

Kevin/James will chip your ecu for $80, at least last time I had it done thats what it was.
Dyno tuning starts at $300, anything special or additional work that need to be done is extra on top of that where labor/parts rates may apply. James will take care of you, great guy and great tuner.
