Ok I have a couple as of now but I am sure I will have more..

1. Does this motor have a IAT sensor (intake air temp.)? If so where is it located? Behind the injectors? That black plug?

2. Does this motor have a Knock Sensor? If not what is the plug in the back of the block? By the oil filter?

About the knock sensor..If it has one and I dont hook it up will it run alright? I am using a P28 OBD1 ECU which does not have a knock sensor to look for..??

 

1. the IAT is located on the airbox.. there should be a plug on top where the filter is.

2. im pretty sure that the motor doesn't have a knock sensor b/c i had to add the wire when doing a swap. correct me if im wrong.

Does Obd1 have a knock sensor, if not then I don't see what the problem would be since he is switching over to obd1 which I believe doesn't and obd2 does.

 

Well since you say there is a ITA sensor and it is on the airbox which I dont have..What is the best way to go around this or what will make it work?

 

that motor does have knock sensor and no you dont need it hooked up

 

For the D16Y8 engine which is the SOHC VTEC motor... the IAT sensor is located at the very end of the Stock intake arm.. approx 3inches before the Arm/tube itself actually goes on ther TB
the IAT sensor on the Airbox is for the D16Y7 engine sohc non vtec..which has a vertically placed TB
and from what I RECALL I believe there is no knock sensor for the D16Y8.. though I can be mistaken.. someone correct me if I'm wrong

My car is a 98 and has a knock sensor.

This is a D16Y8 in Acura 1.6EL in Canada.
There is a possibility that civics don''t come with a knock sensor, but why would they add it just for 1.6ELs in Canada.

yes 96-00 d16y8 motors used a knock sensor, while obdI d16z6/d15b sohc vtecs did not.

 

Well I got it running finally and Yes the D16Y8 has a knocks sensor on the back of the block as some of you have said...
