well the only thing i can think of is that it has to be either your control cable, or the heater control valve. The valve keeps coming open and closed for some reason when its not supposed to because the coolant doesnt run through there to make it warm unless that valve opens and closes.

Have you checked your coolant at all? When was the last time it was changed/flushed/bled?

the last time i flushed it and changed it was about a few months ago. i had to change my water pump so i flushed the radiator and yeah the coolants fine. i thought it was my water pump going again but the coolant levels are fine. they dont look dirty or anything

you should check your coolant levels first and make sure its full and properly bled. I thought that you would have already checked for that though.

i did change my water pump and i did have stop leak in the system for a bit. the only thing is i didnt flush out the whole system. i only flushed out the radiator to the water pump. so could that be why my heater is ****ing up? this happened recently maybe a few days ago

Huh? Low flow and pressure, car sitting at a light, and it gets cool. Normal driving, high flow/pressure and the temp comes back...

^ This. I know you just changed it but please recheack the level and bleed it, heat on max and all of the other normal stuff. Then you might think about backflushing the heater core.....yes I like the 3rd gen's so I had to chime in.

Sir,
Thank you for your input in helping the OP figure out their issue.

To your comment above. I would suggest that you have the Moderators correct the subsections of this site. If you will take a look, there is not a clear place for the 88 and 89 Honda Accords. Yes most if us know that the 3rd gen's ran from 86-89 but if you are new to them how is one to know.

I'll appoligize for the OP bothering you with their post.

Again, Thank you for your help.

Not sure which one of the hoses has a leak but two suggestions.

If one is leaking the others can't be too far behind. Might as well replace as many of them as you can.

Second, while doing this a low pres back flush of the heater core can't hurt.

Good luck

^ very good advise especially on a car with a few(read 20+) years on it. I would also think about repalcing the thermostat with a genuine Honda thermostat also. The low pressure backflush is a good idea also especially knowing the system once had dadblasted stopleak in it. I personally hate that stuff. Agree with the post above, this is a total flow issue and should be dealt with accordingly(punny).

Poorman I agree with you. I can't stand posters like that guy. Nothing to add. A troller that only adds dirt to the water of clarity.

OP - Burp the air from the system. Elevate the nose of the car and bubbles can only go one way.

Take note that HonBeer has never STARTED a thread. He must be so good he doesnt have problems. He is R12 certified after all.
