Good place to find mugen headers?
Hey there, I have a 97 Prelude and i want to get the Mugen header, is it really worth it??? Is it a cut above all the rest of the headers out there? and where can i find one online or wherever?
the mugen header is one of the best you can possibly get. but you will pay a price for it. they go for about $900 brand new. kingmotorsports.com is the only place to get them in USA.
if you want a cheaper header that is still good, just get a dc-sports 4-1. it is very similar.

DC Sports doesn't make a 4-1 for the prelude, as a matter of fact nobody does, (except I think hotshot used to) but don't waste your money on the DC 4-2-1, in some cases it has actually lost power. Wait and shell out the dough for a
real header like the SMSP that is being designed!
Do a search on SMSP in the prelude forum.

I haven't heard much on Greddy's header, but almost any mass-production piece for the USDM market such as the DC sports, will be made to mate up to the stock exhaust system.
IMO, it's really a waste of money, your better off just waiting and doing it right with a custom job, like SMSP. As far as JR making a header, if your going to supercharge, kamikaze is the best header for the money.

I heard in Japan, that its the other way around. They go after the American stuff.
Not sure how true that is.

Kamikaze makes a header with a 2.5'' collector that works very well with the JRSC. I am about to order mine along with a carsound cat in a few weeks.
Geez, what do you have stock in this SMSP.
Mugen is nice, but for $2K I think you can find a better setup going custom.
Like I said before, it's just IMHO

I also know that a few people modified their collector on the DC header to 2.5", what do you guys think of doing that to the stock header? It would save $350.
I think if have the MUGEN,
I got a couple pics of them from the net and compared... my mugen (what i was told) doesn't have any "MUGEN" stampings on it like my Mugen Catback does, but it does have a funny picture of a man with chinesse "graphic" lettering" on it, the flanges are huge were talking more than half/inch, and it's all tig welded, the beads are like no greater than 3/16 and are very deep in penetration. the collector is almost 2 1/2 inside diameter but missing a 1/16th or so. the pipiing is not oval it's completely round except for the area that's mounted to the flange where it's been slightly bent to match the ovals on the exaust side.. there are 4 steps of piping increase (header, from header to flexpipe, flexpipe to collector, and collector to exaust flange... i'ts made out of high polished stainless steel mirror shine and turns into a very nice brass/copper color but when you put a little polishing compound turns shinny grey polished stainless easily the header doesn't turn purple or blue, not even at the flanges.....
would this be infact a MUGEN ???
looks kinda indentical to what "www.kingmotorsports.com" has...
and if i compare it fo a DC sports the piping is way BIGGER kinda inbetween the SMSP tubing and DC's.. i'll have to get a pic...
I paid about 500US for the header and Authentic Mugen h22a catback.. i'm installin both in my Ek-h22a but i'm wondering if there is anything better than mugen right now for N/A ..... if so i'm getting rid of the header i have now....
is mugen good or hype ?
