I have a 93 VTEC with 142,000 miles. Lately its been acting weird. Last night while driving the engine shut off twice while in neutral and moving at about 45mph. In addition to that when I was in 2nd gear the rpm shot up from 2,000 to 6,000 out of nowhere and then returned to 2,000. If anybody has any solutions or sggestions they would be very appreciated.

 

check your ignition system.

 

Sounds like you need a good checkover and tune-up.

 

142k miles? when was the last time you changed your timing belt? Check your timing belt.. might be time to replace it..

 

take off your dist. cap and make sure all the wires on your ICM are connected good......mine was doing something similar to that (shutting off while driveing) and a wire on my ICM had come loose
