Tack welding quarter panel+jbweld? yay or nay?
So as the title says, planning to weld in new quarter panels and planning to tack weld every 1/4"-1/2" then fill the rest in with jbweld. Less welding=less chance for warping and saving time. I'm not saying this is a for sure idea that I'm going through but I'd like to know if it would/wouldn't work. I know doing it right the first time will save me headaches in the future but hey why not? Just thinking outside the box.
UPDATE: just google'd this and read some guys on an ef forum actually used rivets and jbweld. not sure how they're holding up or how it turned out cause the pics were dead but yea at least i'll be tacking it in lol.
Lemme know what you guys think.

haha yea i figured id get that kind of response. well like i said its not a for sure thing. just had ideas going through my head and thought id see whats up. dont think thats a crime is it?
hrm maybe id try it just to satisfy my curiosity...

you might as well just weld the whole thing. Personally it seems like doing the jb weld stuff could work but would be much more of a bit** than welding the whole thing. At least with laying down a complete weld you would know that the whole metal covered surface would be level
Absolutely not JB Weld, but some good automotive panel adhesive would probably work in conjunction with the welds.

well i got a mig welder already so welding this whole quarter panel is totally an option. just dont wanna end up warping the panel and having to bondo up the mother****er but i guess if i take my time i'm sure that danger will be avoided.

I used jb weld and rivets for a super quick cheap 1/4 panel install look good for a week sold it then idk. Now for my current civic I am going get the whole panel replace. If your going keep it do it right.
NO HELL NO dont use JB weld...
just weld it all up and tap the welds with a body hammer a few times while there still hot...it will releave some of the stress so it doesnt warp as bad...or follow the link above my post https://honda-tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2873399

as far as the rivets used in conjunction with other materials goes....dont do it either. the rivets will expand at different rates and crack any paint or filler you laid on top of them. its not a clean or proper way to finish it.
jb weld is also not meant to be used as a body repair method. its meant to be a temporary fix for other aspects of life but not body repair panel filler.
just research it and do it right the first time. you will save time money and effert. you may also save someone on heres time if we dont have to fix it later....lol
