Default just bought my first honda... 1989 wagovan, a few questions

so far i have, vacuumed it out and cleaned the airfilter... also went and played on some gravel for a couple minutes(FWD = no traction in first gear WOT pulls)....

as much as i hate honda's in general i have always loved these wagons

i looked under the rear, it looks like the parking brake doesn't have a separate brake drum/pad setup from the main brakes? and how do i adjust the parking brake is the adjustment on the handle or under the car?
whats a nice muffler that bolts on to the wagovan, that doesn't sound like rice? mine had no muffler.

also do the rear "honda" "civic" and "H" badges have holes under them?

edit: are there any decent seats that are bolt in? i personally like the way 1g DSM and Z31 300z feel but anything that's bolt in is better then the current pleather.

attack of the wagons!

for the parking brake adjustment under the console behind the parking brake handle is a 10mm nut turn to tighten...about the badges i believe the H has holes under it but i dont think the rest do!!

thank you, i will go adjust the brake.

i think the back panel that the badges is on might be removable so i think if there is holes i might be able to bondo and just spray some duplicolor rattle can paint on it.

thank you d16efsedan, parking brake works great now.

in my opinion, honda in general is:
300k+ with neglected maintenance is more then possible.
used parts are all over and dirt cheap.

my problem is when people start trying to boost these innocent little 1.5/1.6 open deck aluminum blocked engines, then end up with this happening, ruining a perfectly good car, people like that and F&F have ruined honda's

on that note, does anybody make a motor mounts and wiring adapters to swap a 2.0+L into my wagon, preferably an iron block closed deck?

Honda's go 350k no problem, and there are one's out there that top the million mile mark. As for boosting them, who cares? What ruins Honda's is putting an exhaust and tip on a stock motor, and running around at 5k rpms sounding like a wet fart. Oh,and a turbo actually increases your engine life, putting less pressure on your cylinders. People work hard on these cars, and I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was hooked when I bought a 82 cvcc, and got 50 mpg. I've also had em boosted, and they're fun as sh**.

i agree with 99% of your post, except that running boost increases the life of the engine, look at the OEM turbo motors vs their N/T equivalents.

hondas make great DD's and dedicated track cars but not as good between the two, unless you go "all motor". that is just my personal opinion, i wouldn't trust an boosted open deck engine on the highway. now a semi closed or fully closed honda engine running boost i wouldn't be worried about on the highway

i am actually contemplating swapping in a a motor out of a accord or prelude(maybe integra but aren't they only 1.8l?), since right now my wagovan is over 250k and burns oil. might as well upgrade to something with decent low end power, while staying with al OEM parts

this thread has gotten way off topic

thank you for making me notice i spelled that wrong
why would i get a POS domestic why do honda owners assume because somebody doesn't like honda's they like V8s, i prefer me a nice 4g63, subaru, VW or a cummins swapped into something that's not redneck...
IMO good honda's are:
NSX
4 door legend
4 door integra
civic wagon
civic sedans
accord wagons

hmm,the thing about using a different series engine is i don't want to deal with all the wiring BS and $350 motor mounts are insane. though i would love to have a b20 in it...

i just did some math, d16's are a dime a dozen and i can bore a d16 out to 1718cc, that's decent, probably enough for towing 1000lb.... which d16 blocks bolt in to it?

All D-series motors will bolt right in. If you upgrade to OBD-1 (for tuning purposes is my most people do it) you will have to change some wiring. The only way to drop in another D-series and drive away is if its another OBD-0 motor, like the one that came in your car.

This pretty much holds true for any worthwhile swap.

If you have any new to Honda questions feel free to PM me
