Max angle for oil drain w/picture
How far off center can the turbo be clocked for the oil drain to function properly?
It's a -4 in and -10 out.
I didn't take a picture of the drain, but you know it's 180 off from the feed, so this gives you an idea.
Acceptable?

Too far off-center. Can't me more than 20* off complete vertical in either direction. Time to get a longer feed line. You're just going to blow smoke out of the exhaust.
Hmm.

The fittings are aluminum. So if you have th resources you can cut the fitting and angle it accordingly. My friend had to do that with his sidewinder manifold SRT. The fitting was too long and hit the shifter cables. So he cut it, slide the fitting inside a bit and re welded it. You may not have to do the exact same thing. But to make a long story short. You "can" cut the fitting and reweld it to fit your application better.
Your setup will not work like it is now. So you need to change it. You might as well have the center cartridge horizontal if you leave it at that angle.

the fittings have nothing to do with it. its physically the angle of the center section. At that angle, oil will pool in the CHRA regardless of what size feed/return you run
unrelated to your original question, but is your turbo JB?
My PTE 5857 JB smoked a bit using a -4an feed. I ended up using a .062" restrictor on it and the problem went away, some people also use -3an feeds to the same effect. Just a heads up in case you have problems, it doesnt seem to effect all PTE JB's.
Also where are you draining to, girdle or top of pan?

-4 feed
-10 drain

No ****. I was telling him he could fabricate the fitting in a way that allows him to run the center cartridge in more of a vertical position. He said with it vertical it hits the cross member. So by putting it more vertically and cutting and re welding the fitting, that could help. Without seeing it i wouldnt know but It was just an idea.
