Default REAR Disc Brake Question?

Gonna be putting in some LS rear disc set up on my 2000 civic hatchback this weekend....

Do I need to get a 40/40 prop valve for the swap, or can I just install with no problem?

Heard the hatchback and the SI prop valve is the same part number but I need to know for sure.

yes
40/40 prop valves are the same minus design.
if you have a 96-2000 get the SI rear prop valve.

if you have an eg get the 92-95 civic or 91-00 integra prop valve

if you dont put one on your braking will be hexa mushy and it will suk

Look up the part numbers and see if they are the same. hondapartsdeals.com

I believe all 96-00 Civic came with a 40/40 prop valve from the factory.

I have a 96 hatch and swapped Integra rear discs on mine, never swapped the prop valve, and my brakes are very solid and stop extremely well. You don't need the prop valve. You will have to bleed them like a sonofabitch to get all the air out though. Good luck.

^yanked off of an 91-00 integra. or 92-95 civic SI or 98-00 civic SI.

junkyards are full of them. they are such a pain though. usualy all the bolts break taking htem off............................................... .................

or you can buy the pieces from honda. jus get the calipers and the hub and wheel bearing and assemble it on your RLCA

so many mixed theories on this swap. gets quite confusing. if you wanna do it the right way then get the si prop valve and si master cyl. thats gonna be the best and safest way IMO.

No they didn't. Some do share part #'s with 99-00 which had a 40/40.

For those who think he need's to switch his check the chart below.
He does NOT need to switch it.

Look at all hatches, DX coupe,HX, and SI, you will see they all have the same number.

There we go I made that chart way back to end this argument. If and only if you upgrade to integra front brakes use a '98 - '01 Integra prop valve.

I'm doing a gsr rear disc swap also, but its on a 98 civic hb cx. I want to know if i need to swap the break cable too? I also got the gsr prop valve so i'm pretty sure im good there... But do I need to swap the e-break cable or can i use the stock one?

You need to swap the parking brake cables.

btw IIRC all GS-Rs were ABS which didn't have a real prop valve and can't be used on a non ABS car. If you're swapping the front brakes for integra units (which makes a lot more of a difference than the rears do) use a prop valve from a '98 - '01 RS Integra ('90 - '97 are physically completely different and wont bolt up without a lot of bending and flaring of lines)

No you don't. If you have a car in the chart listed that has the same part number as an Si, then you don't.
