Quick VTEC question
Hey guys, quick question on D16Z6 Vtec wiring.
So I think i got everything, but I am not completly positive cause this is a stock z6 and you cantreally hear vtec. I think i can but im not sure.
Does the vtec body harness ground out the oil pressure sensor even though i have a non vtec body harness? No CEL is thown up right now on a p28. So i think im good but i want to double check.

im not quite sure exactly what you mean... did you just run wires from the sensor and the solenoid to the ecu or did you hack off part of a wire harness? If you just ran wire, ive head both ways about rather you need to ground the ground pin on the oil pressure. When i did mine, mine threw a light until i grounded that pin.
But if you arnt getting any codes, then i would say you are fine... if you arnt sure VTEC is kicking in, double check to make sure you have to proper oil level. If you are a bit low, you will still have enough pressure for the engine to run normally and not trip the oil light, but not enough to kick VTEC.
Also, you can run a LED off the solenoid wire. that way, when the ecu opens up VTEC, you will have a light, and it could help you tell the change in engine sound.
Also, VTEC will not engage until the engine is at normal operating temp, so make sure your coolant is toped off and the system bled properly.
