I have a decent question for the knowlegeable audio folk on here.
Car is gutted, however, having a cd player w/aux imput and the two door speakers is a must to keep.
With an aftermarket headunit (I have a 4 year old or so Pioneer right now), what would be a good set of 6.5in speakers for the front doors as they will be the ONLY speakers in the car at all.
I am going to be upgrading to another Pioneer, but one with an aux imput in the front this time around. Since the headunits usually put out a max of say 50w that I am looking at, I need two speakers that fit in this range, that sound pretty good, and are priced good. I am a big ebay shopper so if they can be had cheap on ebay/amazon, I am all about it.
I have not been into car audio in years so I am not up on the latest stuff. Thank you in advance.

I used to work a car stereo shop, the best way to chose the speakers you want is go to your local stereo shop or any place that has sell and has a working display and listen to each brand and model speaker and see which one sounds the best to you. This method has worked several times.
+1 for Infinity, had a pair of 6.5" references in the front of my CRX for years and they were fantastic

I think the SI's are going to be my choice, spec wise they seem the same as the cf's, however they have a lower profile which may come in handy.
51.70 with free shipping on amazon for the pair!

Great speakers...but you'll be screaming for bass soon IMO. The mids are pretty flat and the high's are ear piercing.
I suppose if your just listening to music at a normal volume and not looking to "bump it" this should suite you just fine!!!
Good call on the "low profile" concept BTW.

Exactly, I don't need any crazy bass. I am used to just having 2 OLD infinity 6.5's that I have now, which were old to begin with, and 2nd hand. lol

Picked up a new headunit as well. Pioneer. DEH-1300MP
Brand new (not a refurb either) for $64 shipped. It has similar power output to others I was looking at, but the big thing was the AUX input in the front which my current Pioneer lacks.
Pioneer markets it as the "no frills" radio that has the essential options but without any of the expensive lcd's etc which I would never make use of anyways since I use aux input 99% of the time.

^^more like 22w!
I personally run soundstream 6.5 components in the front and 6.5 coaxials in the back, and I love em. They are a great sounding speaker, and I got em for just over cost
You need go and take a listen to speakers to make an accurate judgement for your self, as everyones perception is different.
I also wont push Infinity as I dont push any product from Future shop as I find when car audio companies deal with them, there quality gradualy goes down hill IMO!
