Default AEM true power pulleys

Ever since i put these on my car i seem to have less electrical power available. LIghts are dimmer, gauges are dimmer, stereo is quieter ... does this happen to other people or is there something wrong?

Well duh.....Quick smoking weed and do some research.
You have less electrical power becuase you replaced the OEM alternator pulley which is smaller, with a larger pulley, thus decreasing the RPMs of the pulley which in turn will decrease the charge going to the battery, becuase the pulley isn't spinning as fast, once the larger pulley is one.

The AEM pulleys turn your Alternator and Power steering pump slower. This reduces the engine power necessary to turn them which makes your car faster. However, since the alternator is being underdriven, it does not generate as much power as normal. So that's why you have the dimming lights, etc. It would be especially noticable if you have a lot of add-on power accessories like stereo amps or something...

Yeah, I removed my and put on the stocker... the power loss wasn't worth the tiny Hp gains... but I have a big stereo setup and alot of electrickery.

Man you can blow me first of all. Other people i have talked to who have these same pulleys ... some have this problem, others dont. From what i understand its not a big deal and shouldnt hurt anything. I have no other aftermarket components that require electricity.

On a basically stock electrical system, I see no problems. With an MSD, you might wanna think about it... the pulley will make the battery work harder... thus making it need replacement a bit more often, but nothing detrimental.

Since you have a 2000, I would assume that you still have your stock battery, correct? You might consider buying a new battery, especially if you have an aftermarket stereo system. I have a set of AEM Pulleys on my car, and while I know that the alternator output at idle is reduced, I dont have any of the problems some people have mentioned (excessively dimming lights, windows slow to roll up, dim interior lights, etc.).

The first car I owned would have a noticable change in performance when the battery would start to go away (low, uneven idle being the most noticable) and that was in stock form. I put an Optima yellow top in and that was the last time I ever had to think about the battery. (I also put in an alternator that was much better than the factory unit, but thats not a problem with the Prelude) Just something to consider...
