Default Oil for '94 Prelude?

I'm 17 and this is my first car. The girl I bought it off of doesn't know what oil was used because she just took it to an auto-shop for tune-ups or whatever. Odometer went out at 137k, it's estimated to be about 190-200k right now.

What should I be getting?

Here's some pics for identification. It's dark now so I can't get any engine shots tonight.

It's up to you if you want to run Synthetic. But with that much mileage on the engine already, I'd probably stick with a the conventional 5w30 oil as Synthetic might seep through old brittle seals on an old engine.

Agreed, you should probably use conventional just because of that very reason. Otherwise you should use synthetic because it doesn't create as much sludge and it doesn't break down as fast.

stay away from synthetic for that high mileage on a car that has probably run conventional its whole life.

I can't go by this with most people saying use conventional 5w30.

I also never mentioned that it was automatic. Not sure if that matters. 94 S model.

Conventional oil sucks, why do you think it is cheaper?

People say to use it because of the higher mileage.

No offensive but they are dumb. Just try a different brand of synthetic. Not all motors are the same.
