High HP setups, girdle or no girdle??
This is for the big HP guys out there
. Which of you are using block girdles and which arent? Any bad experiences without using one? I'm planning on driving my car on the street with around 550ish hp street tune and hopefully 800+ later on for the track so i'm leaning towards purchasing one but I would have to repurchase an oil pan, main studs, windage tray, and oil pickup as I already have them. My setup is a sleeved b18b 84mm, 6765 billet t4, top mount, cp piston/BC heavy duty rods, blox stage2 cams. Post your hp numbers and how long you've ran with or without your girdle if possible.

i have an oem girdle and maincaps for sale...from a gsr..they would fit an ls but you would need to align hone the block..but honestly..ive seen many 800+whp setups on ls blocks no girdles...if u run a good damper your bearings will thank you..if your drag racing your really only at high rpms for a couple of seconds...girdles are needed for endurance engine that stay above 7k for minutes at a time...
Yea thats true it really won't be at high rpms for a long period of time, but I do beat on it pretty good even on the street so I ended up getting the 3 point golden eagle girdle. My block is getting sleeved at GE right now anyways so he gave me a decent deal on it. Better safe than sorry especially when so much money has been dropped into it already.Anymore setups with or without girdles feel free to post i'm always curious anyways

In all reality , unless you plan on spinning this motor past 10k, you really do not need one.. people run them for a peace of mind and its fine. A line hone will be required on all caps when you do plan to run one. And if you decide to run a longer then stroke rod , it'll need to be notched..
Just keep in mind.. its really not needed. Plenty of high whp guys dont run them and plenty do. Its just personal perference really..
I have one one my b20vtec turbo at 375 hp now. shooting for 450 on e85 in a month or 2. Man does it rev nice to 9k. its super smooth. I bought the golden eagle girdle. That made it easier to install. just bolt on with arp studs and go. I just bought it without thinking about it. Its a great mod.
