Default B18B1 5PSI Turbo Check Engine Light Issue

I have a 93 civic 4dr with a stock b18b1 pushing 5psi. It seems when my car starts to make heavy boost my CEL comes on and car starts to idle weird and seems bad!! I turn the car off and turn it back on CEL goes away and car runs fine until i hit boost again. I am using the stock fuel pump, fuel injectors and ecu and map sensor. I have not yet had the turbo tunned as to i just got it on the car 2 days ago.

This really sucks cause i cant really use lots of boost. Any help would be much appreciated.

You need to get it tuned. Don't boost until it is, or you're going to blow **** up.

Yup you're MAP sensor is seeing the boost and making the stock ECU freak out. That's exactly what the CEL and bad idle is.

You gotta figure out what you going to do about fuel delivery before you ever even boost 1psi again.

Your stock ecu is saving your engine. Get it tuned properly.

my question is, if you just got the car two days ago, how long has it been driven without a proper tune? i would never purchase a turbo car that was not properly tuned. the engine could already be damaged from boosting on stock ecu and injectors.

what you need to do is get a chipped ecu, bigger injectors and a fuel pump. then at least get a decent turbo basemap or street tune.

if the CEL is coming on and not turning off its overheating if idle weird thats probably the issue and once again not researching kills another b series. more then likely popped the HG or somethign of that nature. boost with no fuel and no timign retard + dead motor

my guess is you're going extremely lean from boost, stock injectors and a stock ecu, the CEL might be a lean o2 condition. check it on the scan tool and for petes sake get it tuned right before you melt something

No its not running lean. Stock ecu gets boost = limp mode. When u do map hack or something then its goes really dangerous.

most definitely needs a tune. whenever you turbo a vehicle, the only driving you should be doing is taking it to a shop for tuning. Unless you purchase some kind of kit that comes with a pretuned ecu for your setup, its a bad move to drive it like that unless you wanna damage/blow the motor

Stock ECU + boost = MAP code

a missing link will fix your CEL, but also blow your motor. I would suggest a chipped ECU and a dyno-tune.

U need a missing link and at least a vortech fmu. Ur regulator runs off vacuum not boost so its not getting enough fuel and ur map sensor doesn know what to do either. Tuning it will do nothing without these two critical things unless u go to hondata then u wouldn need either.

You can't "tune" the car with an fmu and a missing link. Tuning implies software modification which would obviously take a chipped ecu at minimum.

LOL, agreeed. The words FMU and missing link should be banned from Honda-tech. If you type them you instantly get kicked off the site.

What is with people thinking they dont have to tune their cars? You can't add tons of air and just hope it works itself out.

i'm not sure how to tiptoe around this, so i'll just ask. are you dumb? you think you can just slap a turbo on a car, push 5psi worth of boost into the car, and then come on here and ask why **** isn't right when it isn't tuned?

i'm all for asking newb questions, i'm a newb myself and ask plenty of them, but seriously? that's like asking why your car won't start after you removed the fuel pump and didn't replace it.
