Dual Cone Synchros
any after market shops can do this on a B-series tranny?
Dual-cone synchronizers are now fitted on all six forward gears (if the NSX) to reduce shift load, resulting in quicker, smoother gear changes.
what synchro design does a K20 transmission have? carbon or dual cone?
I read S2000 uses
2004 model - Carbon (Double carbon single cone on 1-2 and single carbon cone on 3-6)
2003 model Brass (Triple Cone or double cone on gears 1-4)
anyone got opinions of which is better?

The single cone, dual cone, and triple cone is the design of the synchro. The single cone has a tapered cone surface on the gear that the synchro presses against to synchronize the shaft speed. Dual cone synchros have an inner and outer synchro that press on a center steel ring. Triple cone synchros use both the gear cone and center cone with three braking surfaces. You must use the correct synchro design to match the gear design. However you can change the stock brass synchros to carbon lined synchros if they are available.
Honda makes synchros in brass or carbon lined depending on the year and model. Most later models are now comming with carbon lined synchros. There are also aftermarket Carbon synchros that we offer to upgrade from stock brass.

thanks. i want to hear guys who have shifted a NSX, S2000 and B-series and give some qualitative feedback. I have only shifted a S2000 in the showroom, KOEO, has a nice precise shift feel.
