Default jumping tach?

So I got a little issue with my each. When driving normal its fine but when im getting on it hard and take it to recline the each begins to jump when it gets to about 6 then shoots to 7500 then way down to 9+. What could cause it to do this. Before 6 it will climb like normal when racing but after 6 it begins shooting to higher numbers. Any ideas on what causing this? I have no codes

Check your igniter. ONe of the leeds off it feeds the tach.

Possibly the igniter, possibly the wiring going into the pins on the dizzy harness or an issue in the main engine harness.
Does it missfire when this occurs?

Ill try the ignitor. Car pulls hard and strong just the each goes crazy after 6. No misfiring. Only other issue with the car that may be related is the car surges up and down after reaching op temps when im idling. Eventually stops if im sitting long enough. I cleaned the iac and that seem to help some soesnt surge as much but still does it once in awhile.

What year is the motor? If it is old enough to have an FITV clean it.

I dont know if there is a way to check it. I guess you would have to figure out which leed feeds the tach. Maybe you could check from there? I have never been good with wiring.

If you have a spare to swap in then just do that. If it fixes the problem then the igniter was bad. Self explanatory, but yea. Lol
