stock fuel, stock ignition
my very stupid friend is piecing together his own turbo kit, and he knows almost nothing about cars, and will not listen to anyone (that is just wanting him to spend more money) he is almost done installing the turbo, no intercooler, no ignition mods, no thicker headgasket, the only fuel system mod is an apex-i vafc... he wants to run 8 psi, he isnt even getting a boost controller of any kind, does anybody else think this is a bad idea???
i wouldnt run above 4-5psi without an intercooler. he will at least need an inline fuel pump and FMU. he can get away without ignition mods, a thicker headgasket and boost controller. let us know how long he lasts on 8psi.

Okay...
What kind of kit does he have? Depending on what he is doing, this is what he is going to need to do:
1. Fuel System 101:
Option a: FMU w/ inline pump. Cheap, effective, but shitty.
Option b: AFC hack. He already has the VAFC, now all he needs is some DSM 450cc injectors. Get the injectors, install them, ~25% at idle, and ~38-40% lean them out, and he'll be good as far as fuel is concerned.
2. Ignition
If he's doing 8psi daily, retard timing about 5-7degrees and he SHOULD be okay. I would suggest a MSD BTM or at least 6AL so he doesn't bounce off the limiter while boostin.
4. Intercooler
8psi daily? He had better find one. Even a small side mount... If not, he is going to have some hot air going in that intake mani of his.
As far as thicker headgasket; that is depending on engine. If he has a mini-me, I would suggest one, yes... But 8psi on a stock LS/GSR/B16a etc it isn't NEEDED.
And unless he has an internal WG, he need a BC.

dude... let him blow his motor. its his decision. just kick back and watch the show. ask him to race when he gets it all installed and keep watching the front of his car til it goes.

i am going to race him as soon as hes done, if he does run the LOOWWWW boost needed to not blow his motor, he will just be HEATING up his air and restricting his exhaust... he may gain 40 hp... and since its an otherwise stock RS, i just cant wait to race him, my $500 nitrous system will OBLITERATE his piece of **** integra... Well he's just going to flat out blow his motor on 5psi with no fuel upgrade of anykind (I don't even count the afc in this case because stock injectors, stock pump, no inline, no fmu)
When theres stock fuel going in the engine with 20x stock air.... **** will melt and bye bye motor....
