Default ~~~~How much boost on stock fuel pump???~~~~

CRVTEC,AEM fuel rail, regulator,310c.c. injectors. At 4 pounds of boost 224 h.p. Up the boost to 10 p.s.i, highten fuel curve on V-AFC and h.p. drops a bit. Forgot check fuel guage at boost (don't have EGT or air/fuel gauge). Do you guys think that the stock fuel pump may have petered out
at high RPMs? Please give me your thoughts....TIA

sounds like your lucky the thing didnt blow up. 10psi with a stock fuel pump assures a lean mixture and blown motor IMO, bad idea.

VAFC good for mostly minor tuning adjustments, but not capable of major changes in a/f....

if your losing hp at 2 and a half times the boost something is SERIOUSLY wrong, my guess is (based on limited info you've given) its starved for fuel. Not good. And BTW, do whatever is necessary to not "forget" to check your FP gauge under full boost...thats like forgeting to check if the gun is loaded

Quit being a cheapass and spend like $100 bucks to get a decent fuel pump, that'll take care of any worrying.

What are you using for fuel control? 310cc injectors are worthless without some sort of rising rate regulator. And the stock pump sucks.

310's will go good w/ the Vortech FMU and some sort of diff fuel pump (Bosch, Vortech, MSD, Walbro, Airtex)

O.K. enough of the abuse. What good fuel pump can mount easily under hood or do I have to go intank?

Vortech or MSD should mount up fine, I don't know if any of the others produce an Inline, you could play it safe and get the intank, but I mean inline should be fine.

Where would you suggest I mount it? Do you have a pic available?

Forced Accord...Thanks for putting up with a newbie. Can I easily mount this pump in engine compartment? I didn't build my engine (thnk God) and was there for tuning and came up with this question after the fact.

Yeah it should hook up right near your fuel rail, Im sure if you took it up to a local performance shop they'll either give you some direction on how to install it properly(it's not rocket science) plus the pump should come w/ instructions.

SUGGESTION: DO NOT mount the (inline) fuel pump on your firewall (or, uh, near ForcedAccord, hehe)...the noise inside the car will be godawful loud...if you go with an inline get it mounted in the engine compartment in an area NOT on the firewall...okay, there ...i said it twice.

For this reason (SOUND) I went with an intank pump after having an inline installed that was noiser than hell, eeeeeeeeiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!! all day long...and it wasnt even installed in the firewall (the frame area on the side of the engine compartment is a good alternative)...

An intank holley or wallbro (255lph) with a Vortech 8:1 FMU should give you more than adequate fuel delivery...if anything you'll be on the rich side...a AFC would then be nice to back out some of the rich spots.

Keep asking the questions, and, uh, sorry about the abuse, our sympathies just went out to your fuel starved engine, and, well, happy holidays man.

Back at ya.... I have an Airtex intank filter I am contemplating installing myself. Is this thing a bitch and will it go right in without modifications? Part number is E2315...TIA

Yeah, like someone said up there, the sound of the Airtex mounted on the firewall is crazy. Mine gets louder as you drive longer too. BUZZZZZZ!!!

The Airtex one supplied with the drag kit is relatively easy to install. Just mount it somewhere. (Too bad they don't give you brackets) It goes in between your current fuel lines. It's basically a helper pump.

One wire is ground, one is constant power when the car is on. Look in a haynes/helms manual for the wiring....or get a friend to help you.

EDIT: I wanted to add (which is the main reason for posting here) to check your stock intank fuel pump too. If it's old, which mine is, all the stress created by your rising rate FPR, your inline helper pump, and boost, and whatnot, might make it crap out. I think mine's doing that now.

You said you don't have an A/F or an EGT yet. Be very careful when you hook everything up. Don't be boosting like a madman yet. If it bogs like crazy....stop driving. Mine bogs, and my EGT temps go thru the roof very fast even if I'm only going 40mph in vacuum. You don't want it to go higher than like 1350F to be safe. (mounted on the manifold before the turbo). 1500F, which it will get to quick in this situation is where interesting things start to happen inside your motor....

[Modified by shamoo, 1:37 PM 11/22/2001]

EDIT AGAIN: Okay, what's wrong with me today? You're installing an Airtex filter, not a pump! Hmm.....well, Happy Turkey Day to you all.

This is an intank one supplied with kit. Well guess the car sits for now....not in the mood to smell gas fumes.
