Turbocharging an H22a vs..
I own a 1995 Accord LX that I am in the process of modifying. Now I've heard a lot of talk about the H22a engines and how they are indeed easily modifiable engines, but my question is, as far as bare performance and money is concerned would it be worth it to buy an H22a and turbo/boost it vs. adding some boost and a turbo to my current F22b? I don't race aside from the occasional street race, but I do want to add some kick to what I have now, and I'm working with about $700-$800 for the engine portion. I definitely want to break 200hp, and I would be very happy if I could get 250hp+ out of it. What would be the easiest, financially friendly way to do this?
Thank you
Thank you
Also this is a bit off topic from my original post, but is also a very much desired piece in my mod. Would it be possible to find a 6-speed manual transmission for my 1995 accord?

your 700-800 might be enough to get you some bolt ons.
Oh wait...you don't even have an h22 yet.....
Your budget allows you to pay for gas for a few months and thats about it.

turboing an h22 succsesfully will be like trying to lick pine sap off of a silverback gorilla's fist... f22s have stronger internals for boost. but for the budget get a h22 as cheap as possible and intake and exhaust it maybe a biger TB and unrerdrive pullies will get you to a good HP range..
H22 ftw
U can boost 6 lbs safely on a h22 and make between 260-300 hp guaranteed.
F22 will require more like 15lbs to make the same power.
But I suggest saving somewhere around 2-3,000 before starting your build.
And remember a good tune is key to keeping any motor alive

Where did you get this notion that h22's fall apart under boost?
as h22 eg hatch said an H22 will withstand about 6lbs of boost safely.. but thats pretty much the limit without sleeving.. wich is obviously above and beyond this guys budget..unlike f22s once an h22 cylider walls run thin theres no hope for rework no matter what the budget is.

Where does this notion come from that you can't turbo an h22 on the stock block for more than necessary power?

i t comes from ignorance and many years of hearing people say they wont last lol
people will never learn for themselves thata good tune will yeild nice medium 500hp
they said a b16 stock block couldnt do it and it has
b18c i made 500 on with a stock block as well
i suggest talking to people with some posts under there names lol they might know what tey are talking about

My mechanical experience doesn't go much further than brakes, fluid changing, valve lash, and suspension components. Some metal fab here and there.
I don't have the tools or confidence to do a motor swap or wiring.
nope but 99% of the time you can get great advice from veterans bcause they have been around a long time, and have knowledge of getting things done.
so you just do alot of posting to up the count or what

He had a really nice b18b that made 450whp. I helped him find parts for various builds for customers cars. I helped him source parts for several k20 swaps and a few h2b swaps. We worked together breifly at another job and we were good aquaintences once he went on to work at a performance shop. Can't remember the name of the shop. it's in Mesa.
well you can ask people questions on here, and get great advice unfortunately there are also alot of people on here that think they know it all, and dont.
OP do you have a local shop to go and consult ???????????
