Default 00 Civic dash lights and lights-on chime won't work after new stereo install

I installed a Pioneer DEH-3200UB into my car today and when I turned on the headlights, the light that illuminates the speedometer / engine temp / gas gauge etc. wouldn't come on. I used a wiring harness to hook the stereo up, there were 2 orange wires with nothing to connect to on the back of the stereo. When putting the stereo back into the dash, I didn't think to cover the copper on the orange wires, so it is possible they touched metal, but I don't think so. Also, when I open the door with the headlights on, before there would be a long continuous beep to alert me my lights were still on - now this doesn't come on.

Anyone have any ideas?

clarify that your rear tail lights dont work either, the brake lights do but the taillights dont

check the "dashlight/taillight" fuse under the dash, it may say something else, someone else may tell you exactly where it is.

Checked all fuses, none blown. Tail lights still work. Any other suggestions?

Better double check because I had the exact same issue and it was the fuse Ron said it was. My fuse was obviously blown but you may need a test light to double check.

Taillights are protected by a different fuse (32). As mentioned, test fuse 30 with a test light. Click the Fuses link in my signature.

Test it or replace it outright.

Replaced the fuse and it worked. Guess I wasn't looking hard enough the first time. Thanks all!
