buddy of mine bought over a b16 del sol to try and ifg out some issues it has.


this is what i have diagnosed.

head gaskets leaking under vtec sol.

compression test was

cylinder 1- 148.

2- 152

3-180

4- 155

so i know the comp is low.

and it idles like a bag of ****. stays at about 1000 rpm then itll drop to around 200 come back up to about 800 then to 400 etc etc. i need to do a leak down

i cleaned out the iacv valve and it didnt do any thing.. no cels.

all the sensors are hooked up right.. its got a jdm b 16 throttle body.


let me know what u guys thing. im in to all options..

 

Replace the headgasket.

 

lol yeah. thats the first thing we are gonna do. he just doesnt have any money yet.

 

I'd do that first 'cause that compression test looks awful.

yeah im going too. as soon as i saw that i was like ohh man. and then the one popped at 180. orderd a oem re gasket kit. so we will see.

 

yeah they are def hard to find. its a good lil motor tho just needs some tlc. only got 140 on the clock.

 

that could be the problem with the idle as well (the headgasket i mean).. i could be wrong, but if so, try cleaning out your throttle body.. does it stall out? does it stall when the throttle is blipped?

 

no thats the funny part. itl get really really low but it wont stall.

 

I hear ya there. I spent 6 months finding mine and it had 160k on it. Now, 4 years later it only has 168k lol.

 

god damn. impressive man. his is riced out hto so im slowly changig his mind about whats cool. 18's on a honda is not lol. 4x4 ftl

Holy ****! 18s on any honda are huge; especially del sol's lol. You should try and post up a pic of it. I've always been curuios to see the condition of other del sol's considering mine was horribly rusted when I got it. Best of luck to you with the HG!

 

yeah i went to go buy one at the parts store but they didnt have it so i had to order it. its leaking from some where obviously. but the head gasket is obviously blown it bubbles lol.

 

yeah man for sure.. his has a lil rust on it but its from va so so its not too bad. ill throw a pic up for u hopefully soon idk when ima see him again
