Default 94 Del Sol 2 dead cylinders.. Advice?

I just bought a Del Sol wit ha d16z6 in it. Ran like **** but did run. I got it home and today decided I wanted to do a compression check just to see where I am at.

Well Cylinders 1&2 starting from the camshaft are showing no compression. Cylinders 3&4 are showing 170 compression.

I am assuming some valves may be the problem. Where should I start besides pulling the head?

Really thing head gasket would cause two cylinders to be dead? I am not losing coolant or mixing oil and water. Not overheating either.

most likely burnt/warped valves an easy fix cheap too 60$ all in not including the tool tho.

could be headgasket, if it went bad between the cylinders it could just push the air back and forth between the cylinder making it seem like 0 compression....just a thought

bad headgaskets dont always leak oil or coolant

Sorry but the assumption that a bad HG will cause zero compression is unrealistic I had burnt valves with a chips missing and still got 30 psi, if the HG were that bad he'd be eating coolant & oil like there's no tomorrow.

I am gonna do a leak down test. I think the best thing would be to pull it and have the head checked and have all valves replaced if it all checks out. Any one recommend what valves to get? I appreciate it guys. Ive checked the water and oil and no signs of it mixing what so ever.

Also I noticed that the headers were installed and were missing studs/bolts.. So maybe I could have sucked some valves?

No that myth is stupid and I've never heard of it affecting our cars, i'll be honest I ran 60$ ebay valves in my DD civic and they held up fine 1 the other options are like 300+ which isn't what I wanted to throw in my winter beater.

Honestly.. I don't like doing half *** jobs. I just need some thing to last me a few months then I am gonna pull the engine rebuild or swap a B series in. So maybe the valves would be perfect for what I am looking for.

Also do I need to get new springs as well ?

Think I could lap the valves using a hand lapping tool and some compound?

Right on man thanks for the help. I think ill weigh my options and figure it out tomorrow. I could replace the valves myself and relap them and do head and gasket because Im there.

Or I could search out a good D16z6 head from some one for around the same price or less. But I do appreciate all the suggestions and help.

Last question I have.. Do you think my cylinder walls will be glazed/washed from fuel? No clue how long previous owner ran the car this way and the drive home didn't help?

that's a tough one to answer as I drove my dx with a mis in 2 cyl's for a solid month, then replaced the valves(this was when I didn't know what a head-gasket was lol) comp test came out 190,189,191,191 so I don't think so tbh.

Well ill give it a shot I guess. I heard I can soak the cylinders with oil for awhile or better yet I heard ATF is better then let the bitch run and smoke for awhile and it may help. IDK but ill find out.

Well just a update I pulled the head and this what I got... The head gasket looked very nasty as hell normally would I pull them off they mostly come off as one piece. Cylinders 3 and 4 have black carbon on them BAD nothing melted though. Now When I flipped the head over I noticed nothing but NASTY stuff and a chipped/broken valve. I guess the photos will do some explaining.

If you're going to keep it replace the HG and valves if not swap time the cylinders don't look too bad imo.

Didn't the leak down test show the head leaking? With that chipped valve, I would have thought for sure it would show (heard) in the leak down test.
