Hey ht I have an Eg 93 with a 98 Ls motor and tranny .. I just got it running plates and all monday .. I rehad to also rebuild the transmission .. while putting it back together my step father mentioned that my shifter linkage looks like its from a d series .. its hard to down shift while driving also its hard to get the tranny into 3rd while driving , plus you need to use some force to shift .. I know nuthing canbe wrong with. The tranny internals so my only guess is its because I might have d series shifter linkage ... please give me some feed back asap if these are signs of linkage problems!

 

When you rebuilt it did you try to shift the tranny while it was still out of the car, d series shift linkage is different from b series. the d series wouldnt be able to bolt up to the b series tranny

 

What do you mean try to shift the tranny whilee out ? Like manually shift it yourself

 

Sorry about that last message .. but not that I'm aware of . . the tranny was rebuilt in newyorkm ( ilive in florida ) so while I got the tranny back I never tryd to shift it manually.. but one question whatdoes that have to do with it?

 

If it wont shift properly when it's out of the car then the linkage isn't the problem was the point. What did you use for fluid? What was replaced in the transmission?

 

I believe it was in sept soi hardly remember but itwas like 3 syncros and themain bearing .. but I put brake fuild

Lol no not in the transmission I put 10 30 motor oil in there

 

Run Honda MTF or Torco, see if it still grinds. 10w30 works alright in older (pre '96) D-series trannys but in newer stuff it tends to cause notchy shifting.

 

The tranny is not. grinding and its not. A d series it is b18b1

 

Somewhat misread your original post, but even if it's just shifting change the fluid. I new it was a B-series tranny, I was just saying about the only thing you can run 10w30 (and not have shifting issues with) is older D-series trannys. Sorry for the confusion.

Possibly, but i'd change the fluid before I dropped the tranny, especially if there's 10w30 in it now (which i've personally seen cause notchy shifting that completely disappeared when using Honda MFT)

Well I had put 10 30 but Thursday I took the carto go get the half shaft seal rechange and I'm not sure what they put back in the tranny
