hello. i have a 00 Civic LX with factory power door locks. i bought car used and it didn't come with a keyless entry remote or anything but i sure would love to have one just for the convience of it. i don't care about the alarm part or anything, i just want to open doors without using key when my hands are full and car is locked. any suggestions on what would be my best and easiest option? thanks for your time.

 

You may only need to buy a 99-00 remote. Check for keyless unit behind the driver's kick panel.

if car does not have control unit would that item be what i need and a remote, all plug and play, would have to program remote?

 

IIRC all 99-00 Civic Lx/Ex had the keyless/alarm module behind the kick panel. I found on the 4 of them I looked at, every one had the module.

I used oem honda keyless remote fcc id A269zua106

I actually bought two of them, got in the fsm and programmed them. Works like a charm.

Here's a couple pictures of the module, so you know what your looking for/at.

where all did you get your transmitters? what does "fsm" mean? and is programming easy? must be a thread on here for doing it?

I bought both my transmitters from the marketplace her on honda-tech, you can also find them on ebay.

Programming was very easy and there might be a sticky in the FAQ, if not hopefully Ron can post them up again, I know this has been talked about and instruction were put up in a thread not that long ago.

 

thank you Tlarimer. i found one on ebay for only $24. my module FCC ID: A269ZUA123, the remote on ebay is A269ZUA106, so i assume that will work. and it says it comes with programming instructions so we will see if it works. thanks again. can't believe i have had this car for a year and a half now and haven't done this sooner!

 

Yeah I got mine on ebay. It takes about 2 minutes to program. I didn't use the manual I just googled the instructions real quick.

 

No. That's a security system. The post above shows the keyless unit located behind the driver's kick panel.

 

UPDATE:
i recieved my remote today in mail. WOW!! super fast shipping from ebay.
remote works great. programming (in a nutshell) is easy.
basically sit in car with doors shut, turn ignition to ON and push LOCK on remote then turn key to OFF and repeat that sequence 4 times.
