i have a 98 civic with a d16y8 and 215000 miles. the car misfires or like cuts in and out really fast when im either a low rpms in a high gear, or at any gear after 5500 rpms, and it always happens.

i have next to no money at all and i cant just start replacing things to see if its the problem..

i was thinking it might be a fuel filter causing it not to get enough fuel, or maybe the plugs but idk, hoping someone else has had the same problem.

 

when was the last time you replaced the plugs, wires, and cap n rotor? also could be many things...here check this out.

When i would take off the car would randomly misfire (not all the time) It was the spark plug wires... I also replaced the plugs too.. delsolo

 

im probably gonna get new plugs and wires and maybe the fuel filter, it could use them anyway.. the car sat for awhile before this started happening too, i forgot to mention.

 

Any CEL codes?

 

the check engine light is on, i havent checked the codes yet though

 

Post the codes when you have them. Then reset the ECU to see whether any of the codes repeat after some driving.
