Default Still smoking Oil!!!! whats the deal...

Hello, i recently had my oil/piston rings replaced along with my valve stem seals, due to my car burning oil, blue smoke. So i got it back, and i was told it would still smoke blue until the oil rings sat good and expanded. Does this sound true? or should the oil rings start doing their job of stopping the oil immediately??? advice please

well, i've ran it for about 400 miles now, and its still smoking blue. Not as bad as before having it replaced the piston rings. I think the rings were just replaced, but the block wasnt honed, maybe this is why. i am running 10w30 mobil 1 synthetic... should i got with a heavier weight? 15w50 maybe.... idk

Oh man. There's a question asked on Super Street from a guy in OK about his H22A4.

He asked "I have a H22A4 and I'm going to put new OEM Type-S pistons in it. I was wondering when putting new pistons in, do you always have to bore and hone the walls? Here in Tulsa, OK, there's no one that plays with the firm H22 walls. My walls aren't that bad, I can't feel the scratches with my fingernails, so what do you recommend? Thanks and keep up the good work Super Street!"
Super Street Replies: Boring out the block is only necessary if there is damage to the walls or you want to increase the displacement of the engine. However, you will absolutely need to simple re-hone to seat the rings. If the walls are smooth, as you've stated they are, the new rings won't seal and the engine won't compress properly.
So after reading this in the Feb '11 Super Street mag, It got me thinking that it is necessary to get it re-honed if you're getting new rings put in.

How did you go about the break in? IF YOU USE SYNTHETIC OIL your rings WILL NOT SEAL properly!!!

P.S. I just broke in my integra, after 3 pulls everything was broke in. Dose no burn nuttin.

Well, i was told to run it easy, so thats what i did. Is it too late to change to maybe a different weight oil, and not synthetic. Or must the rings be replaced again? what you guys advice i do?

It's never too late to change to another weight oil. I say just use some conventional 5w30 weight oil instead of synthetic for now til you know that it's fully broken-in then go for synthetic.
