Gen 6 Accord Fr. Suspension Noise
Just had new Monroe struts and original springs re-installed on my 00' Accord EX Coupe. Have noticed a dull "thud/noise" coming from front end over bumps small and large. Are Rubber top mounts (worn out) to blame for this noise. Noise more prominent in colder weather. 161K and original owner.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. No leakage around struts and sway links are tight. Perplexed as to what is causing the dull bottom-out-sound when hitting potholes.

It's possible that the upper mounts could be worn out. If you had the work done at a dealer or other shop are you sure they are installed correctly. Is the insulator there that the springs rests in on the bottom. And are the plate bolts at the top tight. If the noise has become apparent since the replacement I would say it's more likely that something is not installed right. With a better suspension as far as springs and struts go your problem might be elsewhere. Could be a loose ball joint, tie rod, or even worn out bushings. If it were mine I would jack up the front end and start movin stuff around. Shake your tire side to side and top to bottom. Take a good look at any bushings you can see that may be cracked or broken. Hope this helps.
