Painting my wheels flat black.
so i plan on painting my wheels flat black and i was wondering, couldn't I just spray paint them with black primer instead of actual flat black paint? or is primer to weak or something.
primer is pretty soft and very pourus, it will absorb much that it comes into contact with. Spend the extra few bucks a buy the wheel paint from kragen that comes in can, its better than primer
Just like most things, the "right way" is usually out of the price range or a lower priority for the person considering the cheap way.
Anyway, i've painted wheels with cheap flat black and they didn't turn out very well. Definitely try to get the "better" spray paint lol. Yes, with a can it is much more likely to wear off, but not like it can't be fixed veryyy cheap.

Hes right. Anything...including lets say bird ****...if it hits ur wheels with the primer black paint...its going to stain there unless u wash it real quick
get some sand paper from the hardware store, sand it down to remove the original clear and spray it with a good can of flat black.. its not expensive, just a little more work but will turn out good!
primer will fade fast, i had some ls mesh with primer black 2 months looked like ****.. painted with gun metal grey rim paint yr ago, still look good.

primer fades over a short period of time. try using krylon rust tuff semi flat black it will last a long time and doesn't fade or chalk up and only cost $6 a can. make sure you scuff your wheels with a gray scotch brite or 400 grit sand paper.
