1991 Accord Code Problems
Hello all.
Before the rest, i'd like to say thank you all for the info.
I have been lurking this website for awhile and it has been very useful.
I have a 5-speed 91 Accord with 272,XXX miles. (It runs amazingly well despite the below)
As for my problem/s...
I bought this thing ($700) about two weeks ago.
It doesn't rev over 3400 RPM in gear or in neutral.
It's throwing two codes: #8 TDC code and #15 Ignition Output Signal.
It also usually takes on average between 4-5 seconds to start the thing which seems longer than normal
It doesn't really hinder my driving as I usually have enough pull for everyday traffic.
Aside from an axle that needs replaced in a few months, a master cylinder that is going out and the seals shrinking some in the winter that is all.
Where do I go from here?
I believe it is in what i've heard called "limp mode".

Both codes are related to the distributor. Code 8 is for the TDC sensor inside the distributor, Code 15 is for the igniter inside the distributor or wiring.

Thank you tremendously.
I will never go to an AutoZone again where the majority of vehicles on the road in the area are lifted trucks.
He told me that my car didn't have a TDC sensor. I wanted to smack him right there.
**** backwoods towns.

Hey now.
I attempted to replace the distributor but I can't get the rotor button off. There is no screw on the flat part of the cylinder. I can't pull it off.
Help!

If you are replacing the whole distributor, there is no need to remove the rotor. The distributor is held on with three hold-down bolts.
Btw: Some of the 4th gen Accords with carburetors had a rotor retaining screw. I believe some of the 4th gen Accord with fuel injection did not. If there is no retaining screw, use a screwdriver and gently pry it off.
