Damn Code 9 driving me up a wall...please help.
I've got an 88 CRX Si w/ JDM B16A OBD0.
It's throwing a code 9 ( No. 1 Cylinder Position (CYP Sensor) which I was told is the distributor.
Car runs great except it has a random issue where if I am cruising through a parking lot, say in 2nd gear at 2500 rpm's, it seems to get stuck at this rpm and doesnt respond to the input i'm giving w/ the accelerator, until i floor it, then it stutters and picks up normally. Again, it's random, doesn't always happen.
I replace the distributor w/ a known good one, still code 9.
I replaced the pr3 ecu w/ a known good one, still code 9.
I replaced the sparkplugs, still code 9.
Only thing ignition related I havent changed is the wires.
Anyone have an idea where I should start looking now?

does your car hesitate when this happens? then slingshots when u step on it? try your primary 02 sensor...disconected 1st to make sure thats ur problem drive around and check if u still get the same thing....i have similar problem..my logic is when u step on it car goes into open loop there fore u dont read the 02 signal...and i also got a code 9 once..after this happen to me a few times...

yes, exactly...the car only has one o2 sensor...and its brand new from autozone...it has a warranty, perhaps i should try that? dont see how that would be related to the code 9 though, everything I've read says code 9 is related to ignition.

Sometime an over retarded ignition timing can set code for CYP Sensor but this is a rare case. However you still need to check all wiring, sensor integrity, connection, ect....

Change your distributor or distributor housing. Your CYP sensor is likely shot. You mentioned that the car randomly stutters then picks up again. This is the early warning stages that the sensor is bad. If you continue to risk driving with that "code 9" you might find yourself in a situation stranded miles from your home. Good luck.
