Default BLown motor....how much KY am i gonna need?

Well, talk about some bad luck. i bought my first import a month ago and shes already dead after only 68000 miles.
At this time i dont know what exactly broke but the dealership has told me the guys sure its blown, just not sure what yet. They're trying to fing a junk yard motor, but if they dont im looking at 5700 in parts alone for a short block.

Now i know theres gotta be a cheaper way to go then the dealership.
anyone know what a shortblock rebuild runs?

DAMN!!!!!i swear my luck sucks when it comes to cars.!!!

I think you've missed the boat on any prospective due or delivery date ( as in they're backordered for 4-6 months). If it makes a difference.

Backorder doesn't justify a $3000 price difference for a shortblock to me... does it for you?

According to the above link:

They want $3500 for everything, speak with Bob Leonti who is their sales manager 916-933-1080.

damn, you guys are ****.... no no.....the ****.
thanks for all the help so far.

i just got off the phone with ummm....dont know the name but the guys up in cali by sac. talked to some guy named jonesy b/c bob was on the other line. Very helpful and didnt sound like you are wasting his time.

some prices he gave me:
je pistons, stock comp $500
crower rods 550
can find junked b20 block for about 1500 or new 1800

out the door if i provide block and crank, 4000!
This sounds a little high to me, my 383 lt1 with all forged internals was 3000, even porting the heads. Am i gonna look at taking it up the bobo b/c i went rice?

Big phat r, im in san antonio texas. where the days are long and the mexicans are plenty
im done now.
josh

btw: is there anyway to post a thread with out replyiing to someone else's or am i on the short bus?

Well sort of, just the price for specific power (hp/cc or ci).
These little high reving motors cost on average several times more per hp than comparable V8's.

Just pretend you're getting the equivalent of a $25K Lingenfelter (sp) motor!

Acura just put a new short block in my ITR. The short block arrived in something like 16 days from time of order. The way the service rep explained it to me was that any warranty order is a priority ship, and any other order will be back ordered, but for only six weeks. I believe the total price for everything including installation was $2800.
