92-93 cable gsr, Bought of HT and opened to inspect, now it wont work!

The Case is hard to drop down, it gets stuck when putting it on and i have to change thru the gears but even then i think its worse then normal trying to get it to pop down. I have to spend 5 mins changing gears and pressing down on the case from uptop. I get it down and pull up the shaft and clip the c clip in the groove.

Up until this point the shaft does spin freely. As i attached just a few bolts its completely seized up. The small amount of room the bolts clamp the cases together seizes something up.? What do i do i cant figure this out and spent nearly all day and took it apart and put together over 10 times. I cant see what its hanging up on nor do i know what is seizing up against the casing to stop the input from spinning.


The 1-2 and 5-r gears are hard to turn and push and pull also. But i can get them in with force. I feel like something is bent and this is all the problem but i have no way to tell what is and if it is, nothing looks really bad or broken atleast when ive looked.

Figured out it was an alignment tab on the mainshaft.

To anybody else reading this, NEVER pull the case halves together with the bolts. If you have a gap between the case halves you have problems and need to set the impact gun back down on the bench...

 

I had this exact problem recently. and solved it the same way. stupid tab. Very frustrating to have it all done and realize the input shaft no longer spins. Grrrr

 

quit whining, its just 19 bolts
